Youth pastor

The primary role of the Youth Pastor is to reach a disconnected student culture, connect them to Jesus and help them grow in their God-given gifts and passions for Him. To be creative, relevant and intentional with ever-evolving ways to reach as many students for the gospel at One Church. In addition, the Youth Pastor is responsible for providing planning, promoting, and coordinating assistance and direction for all education and activities for grades six through twelve. Currently, this includes Wednesday night youth (6-12th), Sunday Cool on Sunday mornings (6th-8th), and team building for the youth department.

Role Qualifications

  • Exhibit a personal and growing relationship with God.

  • 2+ Years experience in a leadership role

  • Ability to think creatively and strategically, have excellent judgment, and the ability to prioritize projects.

  • Excellent relational skills that will allow you to work with people across departments, potential employees, and direct reports.

  • Highly resourceful, collaborative team player with the ability to also be effective independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, plan, prioritize, and organize tasks and resources to effectively meet deadlines and achieve specific results while keeping focus on the mission at hand.

+ Top 3 Job Duties

  • Creative Programming

    • Plan and execute all Ignite (6th-12th grade) Services weekly including service order, speakers, band, set up/tear down and after party.

    • Plan and execute all Sunday Cool (6th-8th grade) Services weekly including service order, speakers, teams, set up / tear down.

    • Plan and Execute Special Events for youth including but not limited to (Team Nights, Reach Conference, Community Events, Youth Camp, Fine Arts, 5th Grade Frenzy and new events)

  • Development

    • Student Discipleship: Develop and lead the next step system for student salvations and baptisms as well as lead a Student Core team

    • Team Building: Lead the recruiting, onboarding and training of the youth team.

    • Lead SZNal vision and planning mtgs with leaders and Next Gen staff to

  • Youth Infrastructure Management

    • Create, manage and maintain the fiscal youth budget collaborating with the operations dept.

    • Create, implement and maintain Student and leader handbooks

    • Collaborate with the Next Gen Coordinator to create scalable systems and process for the youth ministry.

+ Other Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other depts to incorporate appropriate service elements (communion, giving, special announcements, child ded, baptisms, special events)

  • Provide leadership, creativity, and vision to relevant teams and areas of One Youth

  • You’ll implement an infrastructure of all standard operating systems, cultural expectations, leader meetings, volunteer leadership, and financial viability for the areas you oversee in Youth

  • A love and passion for young people, evangelism, and outreach. 

  • Willingness to relate to the unique needs of youth in today’s culture. 

  • A self-motivated leader capable of creating and executing a long-term vision. 

  • Involving the students in the life and culture and community

  • Strong strategic planning and administrative skills.

  • Excellent relational skills to communicate with students and parents. 

  • A working knowledge of creative programming for student programs and events.
